Everyone has a love story. Maybe it lasted. Maybe it broke your heart. In 2015, Alexander Milov's sculpture LOVE became one of Burning Man's most iconic artworks. Giant figures sitting back to back, refusing to see one another — while inside them, their glowing inner children were reaching to connect.

From LOVE to REAL LOVE

The project resonated with thousands of people around the world and became the beginning of a series of artworks visually exploring different stages of love. Today, we are about to reach the end of this journey and try to answer: What Is Real Love? Eleven years after LOVE was installed, Alexander Milov returns to celebrate Burning Man's 40th anniversary with the last artwork in the series: REAL LOVE.

REAL LOVE — THE STATUE

REAL LOVE is found after heartbreak and disappointment. The moment when two people choose to look in the same direction with open hearts. At the center of the installation stand two monumental steel figures, a man and a woman sitting side by side on the edge of a rooftop, holding hands. The woman points toward dream and possibility and the man looks in the same direction.

INNER CHILDREN

Inside them, their inner children are finally free. And their hearts — once broken — have opened like windows. At night, the children begin to glow and the outer cages dissolve into darkness.

THE LOVE MUSEUM

Beneath the artwork, The Love Museum — a glowing and immersive space — will be open day and night. Inside, visitors will encounter works from the LOVE series: visual explorations of longing, intimacy, and healing.

REAL STORIES OF LOVE

Visitors will be invited to share their own stories of love, heartbreak, healing, and connection. It will be a space for anyone to reflect and share what love has meant in their lives.

REAL LIVE STREAMING

We will record these stories and, with permission, project them each night on a large screen beneath the desert sky.

DOCUMENTARY FILM

They will later become part of a documentary film: Real Love — Burning Man 2026. A portrait of what love means today, told by real people.

AFTER BURNING MAN — US TOUR

And the journey doesn't end at Burning Man. After the Playa, REAL LOVE will travel across the United States as a moving exhibition — bringing sculpture, stories, film, and conversation to new cities and communities.

IN EVERY CITY

MERCH TO SUPPORT THE PROJECT

Hoodies, mugs, notebooks, tumblers — 10% of funds raised will go toward sponsor gifts that will be raffled during Burning Man.

SUPPORT PROJECT NOW

The project has received support from Burning Man, a grant from the Lotus Art Fund, as well as technical support from Mystic Arts and Every.org. Production is already underway and moving forward in full force.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR — ALEXANDER MILOV

Alexander Milov is a sculptor, artist, and art producer born in 1979 in Odessa, USSR. He is the author of large-scale artistic and public projects across Europe, the United States, Australia, and Asia, including the Darth Vader political campaign in Ukraine, which culminated in transforming a Lenin monument into a monument to the Dark Lord, the 33-meter monumental sculpture Archangel, and the annual burning of the monumental sculpture Agon-Baba, which has been increasing in size for 11 years.
